Continuing our blog series of fundraising ideas, today is brought to you by the letter B!
Whether you’re a first time or regular fundraiser we all need a little inspiration sometimes, so to give you a helping hand we are putting all of our favourite fundraising ideas together in a handy series of blog posts!
Bag Packing – Ask your local supermarket if you can hold a charity bag packing day; assisting customers with packing their shopping in return for donations. It’s a great way to provide a service to the local community while supporting us too. Climb can provide fundraising collection boxes, balloons, bugs and t-shirts to support your event.
Bake Off! – One of the most popular fundraising events with our supporters; it is very difficult to turn down a sweet treat! Get your friends, family, colleagues or group members to bake a selection of different cakes and cookies and see who can produce the tastiest sponge. Sell what’s left after the judges have done their tasting, you could even auction the winning entries! Raise more funds by selling tea and coffee to wash the cake down with!
Baked Bean Bath – An oldie but goodie, this can be done from the comfort of your own home in a bath or paddling pool, or if you want to get more publicity why not see if you can do it in your local bathroom showroom or another public place? You could charge people to tip each can of beans onto you and reduce costs by asking local supermarkets, friends, family and supporters to donate the beans.
Bike Ride– Get pedaling! Cycling is the new running when it comes to sportives. If you fancy a challenge on two wheels, we have a limited number of Golden Bond places available for the 2017 Prudential RideLondon 46. Now in its’s second year, this fantastic event follows a 46-mile route on traffic-free roads, beginning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London and finishing at The Mall. This event, while challenging, offers a great introduction to cycling on closed roads and is a wonderful way to ride your first sportive!
Bingo – Eyes down! Bingo is a really popular fundraising event, it’s really sociable, suitable for all ages and easy to organise. You could charge for admission and/or bingo tickets and ask local businesses for prize donations. A charismatic caller, using all the bingo lingo will really add a sense of fun to the event….think ‘legs eleven’ and ‘snakes alive, fifty five’!
Birthday Donations – Do you have a big birthday coming up? Why not ask for donations in lieu of gifts
Book Sale – Are you a book worm? Do you have a large collection of books you wouldn’t read again? Why not ask for donations of unwanted books and set up a book sale, or take a stand at a local selling event.
Bring and Buy Sale – One of the most popular activities among our community fundraisers is the traditional ‘bring and buy’ sale, where people bring along goods (unwanted gifts or used items in good condition, or event handmade crafts or baked goods) to sell on, and pick up a bargain for themselves at the same time, with proceeds going to charity. Foodie stalls e.g cakes, jams and chutneys always do really well!
Some of these activities are great as stand-alone events, and some can be run together to support a bigger event.
We hope this post has given you some food for thought! All of your fundraising is very much appreciated and helps us to continue our vital work to raise awareness and provide bespoke support to those affected by Inherited Metabolic Disorders.
If you have any activities planned, we would love to hear about them. Please get in touch and we will support and promote your activities as much as we can!
