At Metabolic Support UK, we make it our mission to support people of all ages with Inherited Metabolic Disorders. That’s why we created our programme for young people called NextGen.
What is NextGen?
NextGen aims to provide specific and tailored support to young people (and their siblings) living with Inherited Metabolic Disorders in all areas of their lives. We also work to champion the voice of young people in the development of treatment and services, including the transition from paediatric to adult services.
Young people can become involved as a NextGen Member if they’re aged 11–18, and we also run a NextGen Delegates programme for young adults aged 19–25 .
How do we support members?
- Through a dedicated Young Person’s Project Officer who is there to provide help and information to young people, families, and professionals;
- Through a community where young people can come together, meet new people, and share their experiences;
- By creating support services, events, and resources based on the feedback of our community and through regular engagement activities and communication;
- By giving members the opportunity to contribute to our magazine, social media, and online content;
- By connecting patients with research.
As a NextGen member, we’ll keep you updated with any developments related to your condition and offer a wide range of exciting content and resources. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in all of our events such as the NextGen conference and feedback activities like our membership surveys or workshops, and to contribute to our magazine, blog, and online content. You can contact us at any time to let us know your ideas, share your story, or to ask for help with anything you need. Plus let us know what YOU want to see and we’ll do our best to make it happen! Download our detailed Information for Members sheet for more information on NextGen.

We’ll keep you updated with any developments related to your condition and offer a wide range of content and resources. You’ll also have access to our events such as the NextGen conference and feedback activities like surveys and workshops.
