Young People

At Metabolic Support UK, we make it our mission to support people of all ages with Inherited Metabolic Disorders. That’s why we created our programme for young people called NextGen.

What is NextGen?

NextGen aims to provide specific and tailored support to young people aged 11-25 living with Inherited Metabolic Disorders, either through their own diagnosis or that of a sibling or loved one. We also work to champion the vital voice of young people in the development of treatment and services, including the transition from paediatric to adult services.

How do we support members?
-Through a dedicated Young Person’s Project Officer, who is there to provide help and information to young people, families and professionals;
-Through a community where young people can come together, meet new people, and share their experiences;
-By creating support services, events and resources based on the feedback of our community through regular engagement activities and communication;
-By giving members the opportunity to contribute to our magazine, social media and online content;
-By connecting patients with research and advocacy opportunities relevant to their condition and lives.

We have also created an app for young people with Inherited Metabolic Disorders! Check it out here:
